2001 Honda 750 Shadow Hard-Tail Bobber

Picture
Another bike saved !!!

We have yet another example of a bike that was potentially headed to the grave-yard (or worse, to stay buried in a garage for the next couple of decades ... a slower death vs being picked apart at the local salvage yard!).  We purchased this Honda locally from a good guy that just wanted to pass her on to someone that would put the love and care in to her that she deserved.  She had already been slightly chopped-up as one can see from the before shots ... it was a bit scary to see that some of the structural pieces were being held together with ... holy crap ... bondo ?!?!  After lots of thinking, chopping,  more thinking, disassembling, fabricating/bending, welding, more welding, then some more welding, sanding, painting, reassembling and some fist bumping ... here is what we came-up with for our 2001 Honda 750 Shadow  Hard-Tail Bobber ... we really focused on maintaining an overall subtle, clean and understated appearance that will be appreciated both from a afar and close-up.  She looks almost black in the shade; however, get her out in the sun and the color comes alive (PPG Kona Coffee with fine red/blue/gold metal flake - see close-ups).   She is an incredible build and will make the new owner very happy and the envy of many bobber owners out there!  Thank you for looking!

The Highlights of this Build:

  • custom fabricated rear hard-tail section with DOM 1¼" tubing (see close-up pics to confirm quality of the welds/build)
  • custom fabricated 1¾" exhaust system (thanks to raw exhaust piping from our friends at BiltWell) with titanium header wrap and small baffles to quiet her a bit
  • new 2 yr warranty AGM battery sitting in a custom fabricated battery tray
  • new front/rear Shinko 777 tires (excellent reviews/ratings)
  • new RK heavy duty chain
  • front caliper & master cylinder have been rebuilt with new seal kits and new sintered pads
  • new Ultima leather solo seat & new springs
  • gas tank slightly reshaped in the rear for rounder/integrated look
  • new Biltwell chrome molly seat post
  • new Biltwell Kung Fu Grips (super soft with a great feel)
  • custom fabricated air intake with new K&N Filter
  • new rear fender made with 14 gauge steel w/heavy duty mounting struts
  • new brushed aluminum Sparto tail light & LED strip for license plate
  • new shorty 2-filament bullet/chrome turn signals (all turn on with key and stay on for added safety but still function as turn-signals)
  • new mirrors from our friends at Kapsco Moto (with a slight convex reflection)
  • chopped front fender
  • tins, frame, triple trees, headlight, lower forks painted with 2-part PPG urethane primer & PPG paint (Kona Coffee: in the shade, she looks almost black but in the sun, she really pops with the fine red/blue/gold metal flake). PPG Epoxy direct to metal primer used first on all bare metal parts
  • engine painted with a 2-part urethane satin black heat paint (rated to 650°F)
  • flat black graphics are vinyl stickers on top of the paint and can be removed for more personal touches/graphics
  • all new fluids (oil/anti-freeze) along with new oil filter and new NGK spark plugs
  • rebuilt petcock with new o-ring, replaced the in-tank petcock fuel screen, new glass fuel filter
  • re-jetted carbs to accommodate new exhaust and air in-take
